Do I need to take antibiotics before my dental visit if I had a joint replacement?

The ADA (American Dental Association) no longer recommends that all patients with joint replacements take antibiotics prior to a dental visit or procedure. Along with the benefits, there are risks to your health when using antibiotics. C.difficile is a serious and potential life threatening infection that can occur as a result of antibiotic use. If you have had a joint replacement, you should discuss this with your dentist and medical doctor.
